Although it is not known exactly where and by whom it was produced for the first time, it is written infamous Turkish traveler Evliya Çelebi's Travel Book in Anatolia that species similar to the current production model were used in the 1630s and were produced by the "arakçıyan", and its historical background is thought to date back to the 11th century.
It is written in history that it was a drink made with a mixture of wine and anise in the Roman period in the 5th century, but it is useful to know that Raki is a completely different drink. In addition, aniseed drinks, which are known by different names in some cultures, they all completely unrelated to raki.
It is thought that the word raki derives from the Arabic word "araki", which means make sweat, and know that the first official production factory was started in Gaziantep in Turkiye by the government.
